Sustainable homebuilding is NUA's top priority. We are always looking for ways to reduce the impact of construction on the environment and are constantly investing in precision technology to limit the amount of waste and energy used during the manufacturing process.

The NUA approach

At NUA, we have built a trusted network of ethical and responsible suppliers and take great care in ensuring that our materials are sourced from local enterprises where possible. By sourcing locally, we are able to limit the amount of raw materials that are imported into the country as well as the emissions related to transport and logistics, therefore reducing our impact on the environment.

The NUA sites in Carlow and Dundalk are based in two historic facilities that have been renovated and brought back to life, namely the Braun and Heinz factories, negating the need for new purpose-built sites. These facilities hold significant value and importance for the local communities, which take pride in producing high-quality materials used to build homes across the country.

Timber frame systems promote a Fabric First approach to construction, providing well insulated and airtight buildings that minimise the amount of energy needed for heating or cooling. With off-site construction, the panels are built in a dry, quality controlled environment which adheres to NSAI standards. This ensures fewer product faults and on-site drawbacks, reducing the construction time as well as health and safety risks and disruption in the local community. 

Light gauge steel frames promote higher levels of thermal insulation and airtightness and reduce the carbon footprint in the building fabric by up to 20%. Our expert design and precision engineering ensures superior quality and translates into prefabricated and modular components that can easily be disassembled and reused, resulting in little to no production waste.
